Kalopothi wins best film in 72th Venice Film Festival Critics Week



Nepali film ‘Kalo Pothi’ has won the Best Film Award at the 72th  Venice Film Festival, Critics Week.

‘Kalo Pothi’ is the first Nepali feature film to be selected in Venice Film Festival.  The movie is directed by Min Bahadur Bham, whose short film Bansulli (The Flute) was the first Nepali film to be selected in the festival. “Our film has been awarded, this has made all of us proud,” said Tsering Rhitar Sherpa, film producer, speaking to ekantipur.
The film is set in the year 2001 when the civil war was ongoing. The plot revolves around two young friends, Prakash and Kiran, in a small village in Mugu and their journey after their hen goes missing. Producers from Nepal, France, Switzerland and Germany have invested in the film whose budget is around  30 million rupees. Here is the trailer of the film:
